Frequently asked questions
What types of animals do you have experience with?
At Happy Tails, we love all animals! We have experience with dogs, cats, small mammals, birds, reptiles/amphibians, fish, chickens and other livestock!
How many dogs do you board at once?
We offer boarding on a small scale so that we can care for your pet like our own! We typically only accept 2-3 dogs at a time for boarding unless I am 100% certain that any extras would love each other’s company.
What should I bring for my dog’s boarding stay?
Please bring your dog’s food labelled with their name and the amounts to be given. If your dog has a bed that they enjoy, they are welcome to bring it. We have plenty of bowls, toys and poop bags so no need to include these items, thanks.
Where will my dog sleep when staying with you?
We aim to emulate your pup’s home life. So we are happy to have your dog sleep wherever they are used to being. Whether that be on the couch, in their own bed or a human’s! We can offer a crate if this is your preferred choice.
My dog eats raw. Is that okay?
Absolutely, so do our pets. We have plenty of freezer space to accommodate food storage. Simply, provide us with your dog’s portion amounts.
My pet has special medical needs, can you accommodate?
No problem. Simply reach out with your pet’s needs. I am comfortable with administering medications and insulin injections. I also have experience with wound care and am happy to help out to the best of my abilities.
My dog doesn’t like other dogs. Can he still board with you?
Currently, our boarding environment is in a group setting, which means if your dog is not dog-friendly, we will not be able to accommodate him/her. However, we are more than happy to refer you to some other great one-on-one care providers in the area.
Do you accept clients from outside the Niagara-on-the-lake region?
We are happy to welcome clients from outside the region. We simply ask that you provide delivery and collection.
Do you provide services in rain or snow?
Yes, we embrace nature in all forms! We select locations that provide shade or wind protection as best we can. We are sure to take cool-down or swim breaks and adjust the distance or intensity of our outings to ensure everyone’s safety.
Pups will always be cleaned/dried off to the best of our abilities before being brought back home. If the weather is ever too severe for safe travel, we will notify you.
Do you offer different rates for multi-pet households?
Yes, please reach out with your specific situation and pricing will be provided.
What if I have other pet care needs not listed on your services pages?
Please reach out and we will do our best to accommodate your pet’s needs, or refer you to someone who can!
